Ankasa is one of Ghana's most important rainforest landscapes and should be treated as a specialist nature trip. It is better for birding, forest ecology, and quiet exploration than for guaranteed big-animal sightings.

Because access is more demanding than Kakum, plan transport, guide arrangements, and lodging before leaving Takoradi, Axim, Elubo, or Beyin. The reward is a much quieter view of Ghana's wet-evergreen forest.

Local fit

  • Best for: birding, rainforest, conservation travel.
  • Nearby: Elubo, Axim, Nzulezo routes.
  • Practical note: go with a guide and expect basic infrastructure.
